I lead climbed my first full, outdoor route. I don't have photos of myself, but I do have video, and I'm not sure that it will ever surface on the worldwide web.
Epic.

The word that describes almost every one of our days.
Mushroom Foraging
CommentI was inspired by Jim Warnock's blog to post some of my mushroom foraging photos! The mushrooms we found and ate were Giant Puffball mushrooms (check out our video) and King Boletes. Foraging for wild edibles is one of the most enlightening experiences I've had outdoors.
Snow.
1 CommentWe're trying! We're trying to fight off the cold as long as possible. We can't manage to stay away from the Rockies, but I'm not sure we'll be able to manage the entire winter here either. Time will tell. Weather will tell. What an adventure each and every day is.
Floral Wall Paint
2 CommentsMy mother was the inspiration behind this design-- or the giver of inspiration, I should say. The late artist, William Morris, was who this wall was truly fashioned after (thanks, mom). She loved the repetition of floral patterns in his work and my job was to attempt to re-create this repetition on a large scale in a short amount of time.
A few William Morris example pieces I kept in mind:
My first step was to section the wall off into 14"x14" squares using masking tape. (Side story: 1 year ago I was sent boxes on boxes of masking tape after three of my murals went viral on Facebook and Instagram. Anyone need any painters tape..?)
The next step involved choosing a design pattern. I created a checkerboard theme with 2 flower designs, each design flipped horizontally from the one prior in the sequence (see image below).
After removing the tape I chose to add gradients of dots in the center between each of the patterns. The wall didn't need the dots to look finished, but I do like the addition! Check out the full video below to see the process from start to finish!
Barron's Snowed In
1 CommentFall and winter become ONE! Barron was snowed into the Scamp yesterday in Colorado. Not only was the Mini Cooper snowed in, but there was snow in the Mini Cooper after leaving his windows open through the night. Sorry, Barron, wish I could be there with you. It's got to be another one of those "most beautiful things I've ever seen" kind of days.
